Advertisers promote your video’s with YouTube Promoted Video Ads
Posted by: dgmmarketing
Last month Google launched an exciting new advertising opportunity for advertisers who have video content on YouTube.
The new service aptly named 'YouTube Promoted Videos', allows advertisers to create a video that appears on the YouTube watch video page right next to the search results, on the right hand side of the page.
YouTube Promoted Videos feature a thumbnail image with three lines of text, clicking on one of these ads will take you to watch the predefined video or video channel on YouTube.
Advertisers are charged on a cost per click basis for this service, entering bids and the advert text into the Google AdWords interface. This allows your online marketing team to manage these campaigns along with your other search and content network campaigns.
If you want to take advantage of the YouTube Promoted Video ad service you will need the following:
A Google AdWords account A YouTube Account An entertaining and engaging video A 3 line text ad with a good call to action
There are currently two ways that you can advertise your YouTube Promoted Videos:
Via keyword targeting on the YouTube search results Via targeting the related videos section on the watch video pages that are a relevant theme to your ad.

As with most new Google advertising options, early adopters are experiencing very low CPC’s, though of course these will increase over time as competition grows in this advertising space.
The benefit to getting in early is that your YouTube campaign can potentially achieve cheaper clicks then the search network may be currently providing you, whilst targeting a wider audience reach at the same time.
We recently experienced this with one of our entertainment client’s, who saw a 45% reduction in their CPC’s on the YouTube network in comparison to the search network.
Since advertisers are only charged when the initial sponsored ad is clicked on, this means that over time as the video builds up history and relevance; you can potentially see an increase in the organic rankings on your YouTube search results. This means free clicks could be delivered to your website via the overlay ad that sits on top of the video.

Are YouTube Promoted Videos for you?
YouTube Videos are relevant to almost any kind of advertiser who wants to reach a wider audience & certainly advertisers already publishing video content. From movie trailers and product demos to funny TV ads, we have seen a large number of automotive and entertainment advertisers taking up this new form of advertising and achieving excellent results.
YouTube’s Promoted Video has not only given Google a new way of monetising the YouTube website, it provides advertisers the opportunity to target a wider audience and expand their marketing reach with existing content. Advertisers should take advantage of the lower competition, competitive CPCs, and leverage off the potential free traffic by getting in early! |
